In Progress Task: 4. Complete the 50 Book Challenge

One of the cool functions of LibraryThing is the opportunity to join various groups. One that I signed up to is called the 50 Book Challenge. The aim is to try and read 50 books over a year. Between all the reading I am doing for my masters I am finding it hard to get books completed so may not make it this year (there is always next year!) but I have already read more books then I would have done just by being part of the group which is great.

I am currently reading Billy by Pamela Stephenson and so far I have read the following:

My 101 List

In December 2007, while surfing the Internet, I came across a random 101 list. Firstly, from this 101 list I found out about a number of interesting ideas, websites and projects to take part in. Secondly I learned all about the world of 101 in 1001.

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days. See Day Zero for more information.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I never did find that 101 list again but I am glad that I stumbled across it as I have gained a lot from it. As have my many friends and family members that have gone on to create their own 101 in 1001.

Below is my 101 list which started on January 1st 2008 and is set to finish on September 28th 2010.
